Loving Windows7

The new computer is here and has Windows7.  Although it has a bit of a learning curve I really like it!  The little bar at the top has a link directly to my blog.  Maybe that will encourage me to update it on a regular basis. Off to see the grandkids tomorrow!

Well, let’s try this again!

I guess it has been a while since I last blogged so I guess it will be catch up time.  Hmmm, or maybe I should just start fresh.  I am trying a new program to see if it is easier to input my pictures.  Time will tell. Here is our latest family pictures minus Ashton.

On Our Way to Hong Kong!

After 36 years Mom and I are finally going back to Hong Kong! My school is celebrating its 40th Anniversary. Mom picked me up at the house and we came to the airport. I hadn’t even gotten the car parked when I realized I had forgot my backup computer files. I figured if anyone could get them to the airport in time it would be Chris, so I called him. He threw on some pants and ran out the door. I then called Don who located the disks and had them ready when Chris got there. I am not real sure I want to know how Chris did it, but he managed to hand me my disks in less than a hour after I called him. Nice job son!

So, with still 40 minutes to spare I relaxed and headed through security and on to the gate to meet up with Mom. Unfortunately there was going to be a bit too much time to sit around. Our 9:30pm flight did not leave until 11:30pm, arriving in San Francisco at 1:15am… the same time our Singapore Airlines flight to Hong Kong was taking off. Needless to say.. without us. After a couple hours of trying to arrange another flight we went to the Hyatt to get a few hours of sleep. We were able to get out of San Francisco at 12:30pm on the United flight and arrived in Hong Kong about twelve hours later than originally scheduled. The only problem then was that our luggage didn’t come with us. Oh well.. hopefully sometime tomorrow. I will wear what I have on to the hospital tomorrow.

Tuesday - just a normal day

Had a great day with a prenatal and homevisit.  Tourney time was 5:30.. tourney #3 for me.  http://cgi8.igl.net/tourney/gintowin/1277291/.  Krazy kicked Ninja out of first to regain his #1 status.  The night is still young.  Let’s see how long he stays there :-)  BTW.. he won my tourney.  WTG Krazy!

Father’s Day

What a wonderful day we had! The pool was cleaned yesterday and they were filling it up. It was the perfect depth for Ty. My little Ashton is growing up fast. She is so good with Ty. He adores her.. as do we! Michelle put on her uniform and showed us her “get mean” stance. As you can see… we had the entire family together.  For me it was Mother’s Day!

First Gin Tourney as TD?

After months of discussion with other hosts I finally decided it was the right time for me to start hosting gin tournaments. They are all a wonderful group of people and more than willing to work around my schedule. Monday AJ started sending me files. What on earth are macros and scrollers? Tuesday, Jhnny did my training. To say it was overwhelming is an understatement. What have I gotten myself into? It’s ok, I can do this! So, the rest of the week I have spent studying, creating a one page cheat sheet, and making up my tournament pages. This will work…. I think!

So… I crawl into bed around 2am this morning with the anticipation of my first tournament today. Am I nervous? Naaaahhhhhh!! I wake up and look at the clock. It is 3:55pm. Oh no! The tournament starts in five minutes and I haven’t done my macs! I am supposed to in Gimlet (the gin room) at least 30 minutes before the tourney starts. Oh crud, I have already blown it! I rush downstairs, boot up the computer, and open Gimlet and the admin page. It is now 4:05. I click the appropriate commands to get the tourney going and announce pairings. Now everyone is playing so it is down time for me. I go into another window and start playing a game while I wait. Oh geeze. I just remembered I never ran the rules. Oh crud! Nothing I can do about it now. So, back to my game. The problem is that I got so engrossed in the game I forgot to look in the other window for reports. Ok that is it! AJ is gonna hit the roof! I will be fired before I finish my inaugural tournament.

The good news is about that time I really woke up! Oh my.. what a dream! I still had all day and didn’t miss anything! Only two hours to go now. Macs are ready, check-in is clicked, and I won’t forget to run the rules. I have my cheat sheet sitting right here in front of me. Oh yeah… under no circumstances am I going in another window to play a game while I wait.
